Inside the Hollow of Night

With willow eyes
I watched you crawl
inside the hollow of night
to rise at dusk,
from sacred earth,
tendrils, clinging to
a weeping wish.

I felt every inch
of your journey,
drank every drop
of dew that laced
the crescendo
of your climb,
only to watch you die
in the warmth
of a jealous sun.

Your eyes close pretty,
and I weep, while
you breathe the longest hours,
entwined in truth
of dusk's dream
till we kiss
the sunset goodbye

So, I will wait
for shadow's promise
to bring you home,
unfurled in the scent
of Moonflowers
and tangled limbs,
still reaching for
the ever-breathing
nectar of night.
